My first group show in Wisconsin was in Stoughton at a cute gift shop & gallery called Overt Space. When I applied with two of my pieces, I had no clue about this little city but my online research for the shop convinced me it was worth driving 27 miles! I needed to start applying around for the open calls anyway and it felt like a great opportunity. And I was right; the turnout was great at the opening reception – I enjoy attending the events especially when my art is displayed. Although an artist from Wisconsin (that I met in Thailand) once said ‘not much is going on’; what I observed so far is that the state is rich in art spaces and I need to discover more!!
